Watch it! PROM NIGHT IN MISSISSIPPI

June 26, 2009

For some reason I believe the next generation of people will look back on all the stupid antiquated ideology some of us try so hard to hold onto in this century. Seriously, I think our kids will look at us and think what a bunch of nut jobs. “Wait, so you had people who didn’t like people because they have a different skin color?” “What, you people who had problems with gays?” “What the hell is an anti-Semite?”

HBO is airing a documentary during the month of July called, PROM NIGHT IN MISSISSIPPI. It tells the story of Charleston High, in Charleston, Mississippi. Although the school might look like any other high school in America, this one up until 2008 was still having a segregated prom. In 1997, Oscar®-winning actor Morgan Freeman, a Charleston resident, offered to pay for the prom, under one condition: that it be integrated. Though his offer was ignored, he made it again in 2008, and this time, the school accepted.

In my opinion that’s only half of the jaw-dropping moments of this story. The real sick to your stomach feeling came when several of the white parents forbid their children to attend the integrated prom. That’s right folks, teaching racism to your children is still acceptable. Scary.

PROM NIGHT IN MISSISSIPPI debuts MONDAY, JULY 20 (9:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT).
Maybe one day some of these more “traditional” thinking people will wake up and realize people are people. At least that is my hope for my two-year-old niece. Let all the dumb go. Trust me you “real Americans”, you will be amazed at how happy we are on the other side.

R.I.P. Farrah, You Will Be Missed!

June 25, 2009

Variety reports, Farrah Fawcett, the Texas-born actress and sex symbol who shot to fame as one of “Charlie’s Angels” and later earned acclaim in serious roles including telepic “The Burning Bed,” died at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif., of cancer at the age of 62.

Farrah_Fawcett passes awayI feel like I knew this woman, I watched all her movies as a kid and I really always enjoyed her performances. One night like a hundred years ago I ran across this movie on cable, I have liked it ever since. Enjoy!

‘Weeds’ Episode 1 Season 5 Take 2 (Wonderful Wonderful)

June 9, 2009

So, Nancy finally made her return. And she just keeps escaping by the skin of her teeth. So, the big cliffhanger from last season has been answered Ms. Botwin is indeed with child. Poor, poor kid! Nancy will now have a third kid to ruin. Anyway…Andy finally confesses his love for her only to be shocked by her announcement which sends him into a fast depressed state.

We catch up with Celia still held by Quinn and her very hot Latin lover. Too hot for Quinn, but whatever. After making more than a few calls to everyone who knows Celia, they soon discover everyone stateside could care less what happens to her. Sorry, Celia, they should have called Pam. The two crazies then decide to kill Celia and sell her organs, but after learning of her breast cancer, Quinn freaks out and decides to beat her mother to death instead. Good plan, but hot Latin man stops it and rids himself of Quinn. Could this be Celia’s new dude?

Meanwhile, Esteban drags NanNan to a doctor to find out if she really is pregnant and basically lets her know, love has definitely been lost and it’s all about the bebé. After announcing she’s preggers to her very upset fam, she sends Shane to live with this new sister character that we’ve never heard about. Hot jailbait Silas and Doug go to the dessert to plant more pot. You know these people really should take some classes at Ren Mar U or something.

Overall a fairly decent season opener, I still keep waiting for Conrad to show up, but it was nice to see Sanjay. What did you think? Theories, comments, groans, moans are welcome.
